Description

Bobby Forrester was R&B legend Ruth Brown’s bandleader and keyboardist for over twenty-five years.  When he was off the road with Brown, he led groups in Harlem and Greenwich Village.  “Organic Chemistry” is a live recording of one of his shows at Smalls in Greenwich Village, and includes the great Bubba Brooks on tenor sax, William Ash on guitar, and another Ruth Brown alumnus, Tootsie Bean on drums.  The sound is propulsive and soulful, with some of Bubba Brooks’ most incendiary solos ever recorded.
